Jack Johnson and Alfie Hutton will contest the first ever JDC Volts grand final on the big stage in Leicester next month after coming through a strong field in Coventry.

The players won their semi-finals to set up a final showdown on the World Grand Prix stage on October 12.

Johnson is no stranger to winning on the big stage, having won the Super 16 in Milton Keynes in February, but Hutton will be making his debut under the lights. He recently won a Foundation Tour event and finished third in Phase Two of the tour.

Johnson, the Series One South East winner, will face Hutton, who won Series Two in the South West, after they won their semi-finalists against Matthew Helyer and Callum Mitchell, respectively.

Johnson beat Helyer 5-2, averaging 76.82 in the process. He raced into a 4-0 lead, kicking off with checkouts of 72 and 101, before Helyer threatened a comeback, only for Johnson to hit double 16 at the first time of asking to seal his place in Leicester.

He had earlier beaten Toby Clements 5-3 in the quarter-finals, with both players hitting 13-dart legs.

Hutton reached the final by beating Mitchell 5-3, coming back from 2-0 down. He hit a 14-dart leg to move within one of the final, and then wrapped up the win after Mitchell had pulled it back to 4-3.

In the quarter-final, Hutton beat Peter Clark 5-1 with an average of 82.39, racing into a 3-0 lead before Clark took out 126. Hutton won the next two legs to advance.

Both Johnson and Hutton and earlier won their groups, along with Mitchell and Nankervis.
