THE 16 Volts finalists will compete in Coventry today for the chance to play on the big stage at the PDC’s World Grand Prix in Leicester next month.
The regional champions from each of the opening two Volts series will also be aiming to land a £1,500 top prize as the JDC’s newest competition races toward an exciting conclusion.
The nation finals will take place at the JDC Centre of Excellence, playing down as far as the semi-finals, with the final itself taking place on the World Grand Prix stage on Sunday 12 October.
After Alfie Baldwin, Callum Mitchell, Sean Hutchinson, Jack Nankervis (pictured), Jack Johnson, Nico Adams, Matthew Helyer and qualified from the first series, eight more players recently secured their spots in Coventry by winning their respective qualifiers in Series Two.
In West Midlands, Codey Exall triumphed after a 4-1 win over Harvey-Lee Nelson-Harris in the final, while in East Midlands Charlie Nixon booked his spot in today’s event with a 4-0 win over Finlay Clayton. Nixon came through his semi-final against Harvey Lucas-Carter 4-3, hitting finishes of 120 and 52 to get over the line from 3-2 down.

In the South East, Toby Clements beat Drake Porter 4-3 to qualify, hitting finishes of 120 and 70 before sealing the win on double 8.
In Wales, Cynan Owen-Jones came back from 2-1 down to beat Jac Owen 4-2 and reach finals day, while in Northern England Peter Clark came through a strong field in Sheffield, beating Alfie Armitage 4-0 in the final. The strength of the northern group was underlined by top seed George Crowe losing to 32nd seed Alfie Revill in the last 32.
Number one seed Alfie Robertson was the qualifier from Scotland, beating No 2-ranked Logan Paterson 4-3 in a final that lived up to its billing. Robertson led 3-0 after an early 105 checkout, before Paterson rallied and drew level, only for Robertson to hit tops to book his place in Coventry.
With 16 qualifiers, the format will be a round-robin (best of five legs) with four groups of four, with the top two players from each group progressing to the quarter-finals.
