Mitchell Lawrie moved to the top of the Junior Power League boys’ table after delivering another statement performance with a 5-0 win against Tergel Khurelkhuu in Bristol.
The JDC world champion averaged 101.55 as he maintained his unbeaten start to the JPL season, opening the night with an 11-dart leg to state his intent.
After breaking throw in the second leg, ‘Wee Sox’ held in 13 darts, then broke again to move within one leg of victory. He wrapped up the win with a second successive 15-dart leg and now leads the table as one of three players on six points.
It’s a Scotland one-two at the top of the table after Owen Bryceland kept up his own unbeaten start with a 5-0 win to hand Archie Self his first defeat of the season. Bryceland averaged 86.38, wrapping up the win with a 12-dart leg and 124 finish.
Christian Ennis moved up to fourth in the table with a 5-2 win over Jack Nankervis. Ennis hit five 180s as he won the first three and last two legs against last year’s champion.
Lewis Cook earned his first win of the JPL season with a 5-1 victory over former world champion Lex Paeshuyse, who is yet to get off the mark. Cook sealed the victory with a 14-dart leg against the throw.
The only match on the night not to see a winner was the 4-4 draw between Jack Johnson and Kaya Baysal. Baysal led 2-0 after breaking Johnson’s throw and then holding in 13 darts. But Johnson won the next four on the spin to seemingly move within an inch of victory. But Baysal broke throw to force a decider, which he held by hitting Double 12 with Johnson waiting on Double 10.
In the girls’ event, defending champion Rebecca Allen ended her league campaign on a high by beating both Kirsten Casley and Lucy Shepherd.
She opened her evening with a 4-1 win over Casley, before signing off from league action with a 4-2 win over Lucy Shepherd to move within two points of league leader Macy Gibbons.
The in-form Gibbons made it four wins from four in the JPL when she beat Yazmine Ruck-Havard 4-0, clinching the win with a 6-4 checkout.
