RACHEL RILEY
On taking part in the session Rachel Riley said: "What I love about National Numeracy and this kind of thing is it's using maths in the real world. You use maths to solve real world problems, and this is helping their mathematical reasoning, and that will be beneficial for whether they're kids or adults."
CLOUDSIDE ACADEMY
Cloudside Academy’s Elliott Roulstone added: “It was a brilliant session, the children loved it and were challenged with the number games – it was a great way to develop their fluency with numbers.

“The children loved playing darts and doing the maths related tasks. The teacher CPD session was great fun and we look forward to further development with our maths intervention groups at the school.”
OASIS ACADEMY DON VALLEY
Robert Barr from Oasis Academy Don Valley said: "The children had a fantastic time experiencing maths learning in a unique and fun way, whilst giving their calculations a context and purpose.

"A number of the children had never thrown a dart before, but I was soon inundated with dartboard requests, which sums up how much they enjoyed it. A big thank you too all involved."
ELMWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL
"What a fantastic day for all the children in Year Five at Elmwood Primary School!" said headteacher Nerys Maidment.

"I was particularly impressed with the fact that all the children were engaged in using their maths skills in a different context, including those who find maths tricky.

"Times tables, division, adding, subtracting, odd and even numbers and basic fractions were covered in an hour and each session was truly action-packed!"
PARK HILL PRIMARY SCHOOL
Park Hill Primary School Assistant Head Teacher Tracey Bailey commented: "Thank you for the time spent with us exploring maths and darts. The staff said the children came back absolutely buzzing!

"It would be fantastic if these resources were available as a teachers pack so that these activities could be incorporated into maths lessons in some way."
PROJECT FALCON
BOBBY SEAGULL – MATHS SPECIALIST
The session also featured maths teacher, broadcaster and writer Bobby Seagull, who is also an ambassador for National Numeracy.

“I’m so excited to be here because I’m a big darts fan – I always watch it on the TV,” he said.

“Normally children that are doing maths in the classroom, paper and pen, but this is real life maths – they really engage – and they can see that connection between what they’re doing in their head and the maths, and actually how it’s impacting them on the dartboard.

“They’re practicing the darts but also, more importantly, practicing their maths and arithmetic skills because I think with young people, you show them that maths can be applied to the real world.

“It makes it magic and come to life.”
NATIONAL NUMERACY DAY
Dave Tompkinson, Year 5 teacher from Watercliffe Meadow, said:

"The Bullseye Maths event really opened my eyes to the value of darts in primary schools and the brilliant influence it can have on mathematical developments.

"It was amazing to see children who really lack confidence in maths shine as the darts gave numbers a purpose. A 10/10 and a big 180 for us!"

MAN UNITED FOUNDATION
Lewis Grimshaw
Senior School Partnership Officer

I really appreciate all your support in developing our partnership with the Foundation and the fantastic opportunities you have helped provide for our students. Hopefully, we can continue to build on this and strengthen the relationship further next year.

A huge thank you as well for last week. The students had an amazing time and for many of the Levenshulme students, it was their first visit to Blackpool, which made the experience even more memorable. We also had a great evening at the darts, so thank you again for organising everything.
