GIRLS SERIES ROUND-UP EVENTS 9-10

MACY GIBBONS AND REBECCA ALLEN GO HEAD TO HEAD FOR GIRLS SERIES TITLE IN BLACKPOOL

Macy Gibbons and Rebecca Allen will meet again in the Girls Series Final on the big stage in Blackpool next month after they each won an event on the final weekend of regular-season action in Bristol.

Gibbons topped the table after winning six of the 10 events, having finished eighth a year ago. Allen – who missed the first weekend – won two events as she repeated her second-placed finish from 2025. The other two events during the season were won by Abbi Ettridge and Lucy Shepherd.

The final weekend, however, belonged to Gibbons and Allen, who will go head-to-head again on the Winter Gardens stage in Blackpool during the PDC’s World Matchplay next month. Gibbons struck first over the weekend, beating Allen 4-3 in the Event 9 final.

Gibbons led 3-1 before Allen fought back to force a deciding leg, in which she had the darts. But Gibbons produced an excellent leg, breaking in 14 darts with an 84 checkout, to clinch the honours. She had earlier beaten Lola Wheeler, Kayleigh Webster and Lily Wheeler in the knockout stage, having breezed through the group stage against Allen (with an 86.71 average), Cerys Llewellyn and Shepherd without dropping a leg.

Allen exacted some revenge the following day, when she beat Gibbons 4-1 to claim the Event 10 title and seal a return to Blackpool, where she was beaten by Paige Pauling in last year’s final. The players exchanged breaks of throw in the opening three legs before Allen held in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. She then broke again in the fifth to seal her second title of the season and ensure she goes to Blackpool with a recent memory of beating Gibbons in a big game. The Irish player impressed in the semi-finals, too, as she beat Lola Wheeler 3-0 with an 85.08 average, the highlights including a 103 checkout in the opening leg and a 16-darter to clinch the win. In fact, Allen did not drop a leg in the knockout stage until the final, after earlier beating Caprice Hingston and Katie-Lee Parish 3-0. She also dropped only one leg in the group phase, beating Shepherd 3-1 after 3-0 wins against Lacey Powell, Effia Kay and Evie Strong.

As the Girls Series comes to an end, Lola Wheeler deserves a mention for finishing third this year, having been tenth in 2025.
