TERGEL Khurelkhuu and Arthur Allston won two more Super 16 open qualifying events as they stormed into the finals weekend – which will see two players advance to the big stage at next month’s Grand Slam of Darts.
Tergel and Allston were already sure of their places in the finals weekend on November 1-2 – but returned to Aylesbury and bagged two more event wins each.
They will be joined by fellow event winners Charlie Greensmith and Addison Hefferon at finals weekend.
Further qualifiers from the order of merit are Ben Townley, Louis Jones, Drake Porter, Alfie Cook, Jake Hobbs, Alfie Armitage, Lewis Cook, Toby Clements, Archie Chippendale, Dillon Moran, Bobby Vickors and Ellis Hadfield.
EVENT 5
Tergel Khurelkhuu won his second event of the Super 16 when he beat Ben Townley 5-2 in the Event 5 final.
The Mongolian ace, 14, averaged 85.47 in the final, with all seven legs being won in six visits. Townley won the first leg as the players exchanged holds, before Tergel broke – only to be broken straight back. Tergel broke again to lead 3-2 and then held throw to move within one leg of victory.
He completed the victory with a 15-dart break, having kicked off the leg with a 180 and 140.
Tergel had earlier beaten Callum Ryan 4-2 in the semi-final, coming back strongly after Ryan opened with a 15-dart break. Tergel took out 116 for his second break of throw and a 3-1 lead, before Ryan broke back to cut the deficit to one leg. But Tergel got over the line with yet another break.
Townley played some dazzling darts on his way to the final, producing three 90-plus averages including a 96.19 in his 3-1 win over Jack Marshall in the last 32, which featured a 13-dart leg.
Arthur Allston also produced a couple of 90-plus averages on his way to the quarter-finals, while Louis Jones recorded 93.94 in his opening match.

EVENT 6
Arthur Allston followed Tergel in winning a second event as he came back from 3-1 down to beat Drake Porter 5-3 in the Event 6 final.
Allston looked as if he was up against it after four legs – but the 15-year-old English player responded superbly, winning four legs on the bounce to seal the title. He clinched the win with a brilliant 101 checkout.
He had earlier hit two 90-plus averages, including 92.49 in his 4-0 semi-final win over Lewis Cook, in which he hit a 12-dart leg.
After breaking Cook’s throw in the opening leg, Allston produced visits of 140, 93, 128 and 140 as he doubled his lead with a brilliant leg of darts.
He also averaged 91.74 in beating Addison Hefferon 3-2 in the last 16, which featured another 12-dart leg.
Porter reached his first final with a string of consistent displays, his average never dipping below 72.73 all day. He beat Kyle Gilding 4-1 in the semi-final, including a 116 checkout.
Lewis Cook produced one of the performances of the weekend as he beat Tergel Khurelkhuu 3-0 with a 93.94 average, hitting a 117 checkout in the second leg.

EVENT 7
Tergel Khurelkhuu made it two wins on the weekend and three overall as he beat Lewis Cook 5-2 in the Event 7 final.
Tergel averaged 92.50 in the final, coming back from 2-1 down to claim another title. Cook had moved 2-1 up with a 124 checkout, before Tergel held in 14 darts to draw level.
Tergel then broke to take the lead, before another 14-dart hold saw him move within one leg of victory, which he took with a 13-dart break.
He won his first three matches 3-0 before a 3-2 win over Bobby Vickors with an 87 average in the quarter-finals and a 4-1 win over Louis Jones in the semis.
Cook impressed in reaching his first final of the series, winning his opening four matches without dropping a leg, before a 4-2 win over Will Myers in the semis.

EVENT 8
Arthur Allston again matched Tergel Khurelkhuu’s feats as he won his second event of the weekend and third of the series.
Allston finished one point behind Tergel in the overall standings – although both players had long secured their spots at the finals event.
Allston beat Ben Townley 5-4 in a thrilling final to bring a fitting end to an excellent weekend of Super 16 qualifying action.
He led 2-0 and 4-2, before Townley fought back to force a deciding leg. Allston produced an 11-dart leg to go 2-0 up – and a 12-darter with a 122 checkout to make it 3-1 as he continued his outstanding form.
Townley hit back with a 95 checkout, only for Allston to move within one leg of glory. But Townley took out 68 and then broke throw to force a decider, in which he had the darts. But Allston broke in six visits to secure another event win.
Allston’s best performance of the event came in a 3-0 quarter-final win over Bert Croft, in which he averaged 90.18.
Townley, for his part, was superb in reaching his second final of the weekend, notably in averaging 83-plus in three successive wins between the last 16 and semi-finals.
