Wallace leads the way in the South West as Volts Series 2 starts to heat up

Series Two of the JDC Volts is well underway following the huge success of the initial run.

In our latest round-up, we focus on the most recent goings-on in South West England and Wales, as players set out to achieve the dream of playing on the PDC World Grand Prix stage this autumn.

James Wallace is the early pacesetter in the South West England group after winning back-to-back events in Plymouth.

Wallace leads the way at the top of the table by six points from Ryan Knight after following up last week’s win with another success.

He beat Josh Yorke in the final, having lost to him in the group stage earlier in the event. After beating Karson Tuck and Olly Maule in the knockouts, Wallace was a 3-1 winner against Yorke, throwing six ton-plus scores along the way.

Knight was also a double event winner, triumphing in both Frome and Radstock.

In Frome he beat Arthur Alden – who finished top of the group during Series One of the Volts earlier this summer – in the final. After beating Lucas Howell and Josh Smith, Knight beat Alden 3-1 in the final, despite his opponent taking out 100 to win the opening leg.

In Radstock, he defeated Grayson Jarvis – another player flying high in the embryonic league table – 3-0 in the final after defeating Alden 3-2 in the semis.

With nine venues in operation and 117 players competing so far, the competition in the South West is absolutely thriving.

Four players are tied on 32 points from fourth place down to seventh, with one of them – Jacob Fear – winning both events he has played so far.

He followed up his early win in Weston-super-Mare with a repeat performance, beating Ryan Knight in the final, and did not compete in the most recent event, which was won by Tai Anderson.

The other players on 32 points – Logan Symons, Brooklyn Anthony and Finlay Cleave – all tasted victory too.

Symons beat Jayden Page in Liskeard, Anthony beat CJ Ayres in Bridgwater and Cleave defeated Harry Hutton in Torquay to keep the pressure on the early leaders.

Over in Wales, Ethan Parry is setting the early pace – building a huge lead at the top of the table.

He has already won three events, including back-to-back wins in Llantrisant, where he defeated George Jones 3-1 in the final last night, sealing the title with a 97 checkout.

On Anglesey, Cynan Jones averaged 103.66 in his 2-0 win over Jac Owen in last night’s final, sealing the win with an 11-darter as he went 180, 85, 140 and 96.

Drew Bowen is making good progress after winning back-to-back titles in Penarth, beating Charlie Greenslade 3-0 in last night’s final, while in Newport, Harvey Glycos beat Archie Bourne 3-1 in the final.
