VOLTS ROUND-UP – WALES, SCOTLAND, ROI & NI

As we get toward the end of the first series of the JDC Volts, we will be taking a regular look at how the various rankings tables are shaping up. In the latest round-up, we focus on the recent goings-on in the Volts in Wales, Scotland and Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland.

Lucas Milligan took a big step toward topping the table in Wales when he beat his closest rival, George Humphreys, in the Bridgend final and reached the Pontyclun final within the past week.

Milligan, who recently won his first Foundation Tour event, has 118 points and leads Humphreys by 14 points with a few events to play.

He was a 3-1 winner against Humphreys in the Bridgend final, having seen off Nico Adams 3-2 with a 74 average in the semis and Cameron Williams 3-1 in the last eight.

Milligan also reached the Pontyclun final, losing a five-leg thriller against Liam Hughes in the final. Hughes beat Aiden Worgan 3-1 in the semi-final and Mayson Smith 3-0 in the quarters.

In North Wales, Cynan Jones triumphed in the Anglesey event, and sits third overall in the standings, following a 2-1 win over Morgan Nash in the final. His best performances, however, came in the two preceding rounds, throwing an 83.50 average in a 2-0 quarter-final win over Cai Roberts and an 81.33 in the semi-final against Jac Owen.

Yazmine Ruck-Havard was the winner in Newport, beating Archie Bourne 3-0 in the final after 3-1 wins over Alfie O’Brien and Aston Richardson in the semis and quarters, respectively, while in Penarth, Harley Glycos threw a 77.74 average in a 3-0 win over Drew Bowen in the final.

In Scotland, Chloe Sutherland enjoyed an event to remember in Kirkcaldy. Not only did she beat runaway leader Logan Paterson 3-2 in the quarter-final, but she defeated her own brother Robert by the same scoreline in the final to move ahead of him and into second place in the table.

In the Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland, Jack Porter still leads the way after triumphing in Letterkenny, following a 3-0 win over Shane Porter in the final, averaging over 75 in the process.

In Kilkenny, third-placed Jack Courtney beat second-placed Jack Caulfield 3-2 in the final, after earlier beating Tommy Holden and Alex Cashin.

In Dublin, Scott Doyle produced an 80.52 average as he beat Daithi O’Sullivan 3-0 in the final, having earlier beaten Kyle Donnan in the semis, while in Cork it was Thomas O’Riordan who emerged victorious following a 3-1 win over Jamie Farrell in the final.
