Players dreaming of Grand Prix stage as Volts get underway

The JDC’s newest and freshest competition – the Under-18 Volts – got off to a flying start this week, with plenty of new players being introduced to competitive darts.

The Volts series is being played at 34 venues across eight regions: Midlands East, Midlands West, Northern England, Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland, Scotland, South West England, South East England and Wales.

There is a league table for each region – and players can accumulate points by playing at more than one event per week within their region.

The final will be played on the stage at the PDC’s World Grand Prix in October.

JDC chairman Steve Brown said: “The great thing about the Volts is that it’s a round-robin format, so the players are guaranteed more than one match per night.

“That’s particularly good for players who might be new to competitive darts, because it allows them to acclimatise to the format and the competitive environment.

“We’re seeing some of the JDC’s established players competing in the Volts – players such as Jack Johnson, Daniel Stephenson and Rebecca Allen – but we’re also seeing lots of new names and faces, which is incredibly encouraging.”
