Brad Phillips claimed a JDC World finals spot last weekend by winning the first Tour event of 2018. Phillips had earned his spot in the final with some solid darts and a tight match victory over tour regular Freddie Francis in the semi
final, assured a chance to win the event.
Phillips would have to overcome an efficient Jack Seymour who dropped only 3 legs
up to the final and with wins over England international Alex Gurr and 2017 tour winner Alfie Jacques was surely the event favourite going into his last match.
The final was as usual a gripping affair with some great quality shown by both players. Phillips won the bull, but it was seymour who opened his account first. After 4 legs played in a best of 9 it was 2-2 and getting tense. A maximum in the 6th from seymour levelled at 3-3. Then with 2 legs on the spin phillips completed his victory 5-3.
JDC Director Darren Barson at the event commented,
"A fantastic final on a fantastic day for junior darts. Record attendance for us at this venue this year and sets up a great 2018 tour ahead. We are off to Worcester next and cannot wait to see who will join Brad in this years World finals"
